"Earthrise" Iconic Photo Taken by Astronaut Bill Anders, Class of 1951

In a Los Angeles Times article on March 4, 2018, the photo "Earthrise" is described as "one of the most celebrated photos ever.  It showed the Earth in all its living glory.  It invited people to step away from one of the most contentious years anyone could remember and gain some perspective....The picture was credited with helping to launch the environmental movement."  In our astronaut display, we have copy of the photo donated by Bill on the Museum's Grand Opening in 2008.
