Kay Adams, English Teacher 1973-1999

It is with sadness that we share the news of the death of Kay Adams, Grossmont High School English teacher from 1973 to 1999, on October 30, 2017, at the age of 78.  Kay touched thousands of students and teachers with her enthusiastic teaching style and her ability to inspire others. 

While at Grossmont, Kay was English Department Chairman, District English Council Chairman, GHS Teacher of the Year, and GHS Golden Apple Teacher.  Kay was recognized for her love of literature and her ability to “bring out the best” in those she met.

After Kay’s retirement, she moved first to Utah with her husband Doug, and after his passing, to Missoula, Montana, both moves to be closer to family. A private service will be held in Utah.

Rosemary Redditt, GHS Physical Education Teacher

A San Diego resident since 1959, she taught Phys Ed for 30 years mostly at Grossmont HS. She is remembered as professional, on the ball, proficient and an excellent coach. A highlight of her career was accompanying a Community Girls Track and Field Team to Russia. She also taught First Aid and CPR for the Red Cross and Lifeguarded at Gillespie Field.


2015 Hall of Honoree, Jim Nichols, Instrumental Music Teacher, 1959-1987

Jim was excited to be honored in 2015 and was looking forward to the History of the Instrumental Music Program Book, which traces the 95 year history of the program.  See the Museum Store page for more information about the book.. Richard Bullock, P.E. Teacher and Coach

Richard was drafted into the Army in 1969 and served in the Second Armored Divison Military Band. He attained his goal of being a coach and physical education teacher at Grossmont High School, La Mesa, Calif., for 34 years, where he especially enjoyed coaching boys' soccer and track.
